2021 SCTP National Team Championship Recap
What a tremendous week, 10 days of fun, fellowship and firearms!  Nine Mason-Dixon team members and their families traveled to Marengo, Ohio and the Cardinal Shooting Center for the 2021 SCTP Nationals Team Championship. This was Mason-Dixon’s 12th year attending the SCTP Nationals and it proved to be one of our best. Halley Donati won an individual Silver in Ladies Collegiate American Skeet. Our Collegiate American Trap squad of Noah Temple, Gianna Patti, Sofia Bennett, Ben Knepper, and Chase Watkins took home 3rd place beating out Jacksonville University via a tie breaker!

2022 Practice and Competition Schedule
The majority of Mason-Dixon’s 2022 Trap schedule has been posted on the website (masondixonclaybusters.com). Some dates and locations are TBD however it should provide a solid start for your 2022 planning. Schedules for additional disciplines, if available, will be added later this year.

2022 SCTP National Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays Team Championships
It’s never too early to start planning for the 2022 SCTP Nationals!!!! July 9-16, 2022 @ Cardinal Center, Marengo OH. If you are trying to schedule based on discipline, Trap typically runs the last two days (July 15-16). Skeet and Sporting Clays normally runs midweek, either Monday-Tuesday (July 11-12) or Wednesday-Thursday (July 13-14). The International disciplines run at the beginning of the week (July 9-10). Competitions are part of the learning process so we encourage all of our athletes to attend all of our competitions.

Spring Committees
Keeping to the theme that it’s never too early. We are looking for volunteers to head and participate on various organizational committees. There is a lot of planning that goes into running a program like ours. Mason-Dixon runs like a co-op and if everyone pitches in many hands will make light work. Below is a list of committees we need to get going for next fall. We are asking each and every athlete to have at least one adult representative, on a least one committee. Please reply to admin@masondixonclaybusters.com for additional details or to sign up.

  • Coaches Committee (7-10 required)
    • Coaches to help instruct athletes. Must be registered volunteers.
  • Photo Committee (2-3 required)
    • Group that takes photos of team events and shares them within the group
  • Travel Committee (5-7 required)
    • Group that will plan away trips…hotels, food, drinks, activities, etc.
  • Trap Practice Food Committee (5-7 required)
    • Group that prepares light food at Trap practices
  • Fundraising/Boosters (2-3 required)
    • Group that will go out and petition for donations.
  • Pullers and Scores (5-7 required)
    • Group that scores (coaches are not to score)
  • Trap House Helpers (2-3 required)
    • Adult volunteers that keep the trap houses full
  • Range Safety Officers (2-3 required)
    • Group that maintains safety on the range
  • End of night range cleanup committee (2-3 required)
    • Ensure that at the end of the night the range is left better then we found it
  • Statistics committee (2-3 required)
    • Responsible for recording practice and competition scores and ensuring every practice target is counted

Sponsors and Donations
As I’m sure you can understand, it takes a lot of resources to run a quality youth program like ours so Mason-Dixon is continually looking for additional partners and sponsors to help keep the costs down for our athletes and parents. The registration fees our athletes pay cover only a fraction of the true cost associated with participating in our program. Without the help we receive from our supporters many of the athletes in our program couldn’t afford to participate in the Shooting Sports.

That’s why I need your help! Over the years I have just about exhausted my list of potential sponsors. I’m hoping that some of you may be willing to help find new sponsors for the team.

While businesses that sell shooting supplies are a perfect fit, don’t limit yourself to those. A local business whose owner supports the shooting sports and/or youth activities might be an ideal candidate. The person who owns an auto parts store or hair salon might be an avid shooter or 2nd Amendment supporter who would be proud to be associated with a youth shooting team.

Every dollar we raise goes right back to the team and since we are a 501c3, donations to the team can be tax deductible.

Help me help our athletes! Contact me to at admin@masondixonclaybusters.com get started. I have included a link to our Donation Request Letter that you can use to help you approach potential supporters. If everyone chips in and finds a sponsor or two it would make a huge difference in the ability of our program to meet the needs of our athletes.
