Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dear Mason-Dixon Clay Buster Family,

As the year comes to a close, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year. Its been an remarkable year for our program and we are looking forward to building on our successes in 2013.

This off-season has been a busy one. We have been working on our schedules, applying for grants, and looking for opportunities to help our program. Don’t forget, we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization so contributions to our program are tax-deductible. If you know of any business or organization that would be willing to make a donation to our program please let me know. Also, any help with fundraising would be greatly appreciated.

Mason-Dixon will once again offer multiple disciplines to our shooters for 2013. American Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays along with Olympic Trap & Skeet will all be available. Participate in a single discipline or shoot them all, it’s totally up to you.

Our practice schedule will be very similar to how it was in 2012. American Trap practices will be on Wednesday evenings, Sporting Clays will be a mix of Thursday evenings and weekends. We’ll squeeze in a little Skeet here and there, and Olympic Trap & Skeet will have a few weekend dates in early spring. The season will kick off in March and conclude in June after our state championship events. For those who would like to take the next step and travel to Nationals, the season will run into July. Our tentative 2013 schedule is up on the website and I hope to have it finalized in a few weeks. Below are a few important dates that I can share at this time, remember all of these are optional.

Due to the forecast of snow our trip to shoot Olympic Trap on Saturday, December 29th at Keystone Shooting Park has been canceled.

Keystone Shooting Park will be hosting an Olympic Trap Mini-Camp on Saturday December 29th. The camp is an impromptu and casual format; beginners are welcome. I need to let them know how many we have attending so, if shooting some Olympic trap over the holidays sounds like fun please contact me ASAP to get your name on the list. If we have enough interest we may even be able to work out some carpooling. Hopefully we will be blessed with good weather and mild temperatures.

If you’re looking for something to do on New Year’s Day, come on out to Loch Raven Skeet & Trap Center and shoot in their New Years Day Skeet Shoot. The event is open to everyone. If you’re interested let me know and we’ll try to have everyone shoot together.

January 1, 2013

Jefferson Sportsmen is having a New Years Day Block Shoot. A Block Shoot is done with a shotgun and you shoot at a piece of cardboard with an X across it, and the closest “bb” to the center wins. The activities start around 12:00 noon. Bring your 12 ga. and try your luck at winning cash. Food and drink will be provided for you to purchase. There will be games of chance and a gun raffle for you to try your luck as well.

The White Rose Friends of NRA is hosting a AUCTION & FUND-RAISING DINNER at the Holiday Inn Conference Center of York. Tickets available at Freedom Armory, near Glen Rock exit 8. Friends of NRA is a grassroots fund-raising program that raises money to give 100% of the net proceeds to qualified local, state, and national programs. For more information, see Jim Boddington at Freedom Armory, or Chairman Ed Hughes at Whistle Stop Bike Shop, New Freedom, PA (717) 227-0737

Its very important that we support the Friends of NRA as they have been a HUGE supporter of the Mason-Dixon Clay Busters. I would like to get a table and put a group from Mason-Dixon together to attend this event. Please let me know if you are able to attend.
