Decal Survey

I would like to get a few Mason-Dixon Clay Busters decals and I’m trying to decide what color to make them. Below are 3 examples, all white, all orange, and one with the team name in white and the targets in orange. Of course, the two color ones cost more. The decals would be 14″ x 3″ and be made out of vinyl. There is no background (gray color) to these decals, only the white and/or orange color is the decal. I plan to put mine decal on the back or side window of my van. What do you you like?

2010 SCTP National Championship Recap

Hello everyone!
Now that we’re back and into a somewhat regular routine again I wanted to take a minute and send a note highlighting our trip to 2010 SCTP National Championships. To sum our trip up in a word it would be “Fantastic”. Hot would be the second word that comes to mind but we survived and we definitely plan to do it again next year!

After a 14 hour drive, we arrived at our St Louis hotel on Monday the 19th. Our hotel was fantastic but located about an hour away from the World Shooting Complex. Our first look at the Complex came on Tuesday when we went over to shoot some practice. “WOW” is all I can say, 3 ½ miles of trap houses, two 15 station sporting clay courses and a bunch of combo skeet/trap ranges.

As many of you may know, Luke and Mark shot with the Central Penn Crushers Sporting Clays team this year. Central Penn took 12 shooters from their team to the championships where they competed on Wednesday and Thursday. Mark and Luke both shot excellent, placing well with their squads as well as individuals.

The change of guard came on Thursday when we said goodbye to the Crushers and greeted the arriving Clay Busters. Jack, Dalton, Brain, Thomas and their families joined us for the remainder of the week.
Friday was our first 100 trap targets and the team did excellent. The squad combined for a 471 besting our PA State shoots score by 8 targets. On their last trap of the day the squad shot an impressive 124 out of 125 targets. Steph and Thomas both shot well also with Thomas breaking his first 25 straight.

Saturday brought some tougher conditions but after a slow start the squad managed to pull it together and shoot a second straight 471 for a two day total of 942. Think about it – that is a 94 plus average, which is some really good shooting.

During the week the kids competed admirably with the top shooters in the nation, played lots of shooting games, made new friends, and bonded as friends as well as a team. It was an experience that I’m sure they will remember for a long time.

Below are a few team and individual accomplishments from this year’s National Championship. As I said earlier, we had a great time and the official start for planning for next year’s event begins right now! Put it on your calendar, the 2011 SCTP National Team Championships are July 18-23, 2011.

Mason-Dixon Clay Busters, Squad “Barrels” – 942 for 20th out of 60 squads

Mark – 95* + 95 = 190*
Jack – 97* + 91 = 188*
Brain – 85 + 89* = 174*
Dalton – 96* + 96 = 192*
Luke – 98 + 100* = 198* (the 198 tied Luke for 8th out of 1170 shooters)

Thomas – 92* + 91 = 183*
Steph – 86 + 92* = 178*

The team shot a little earlier today so the heat was a much better but the morning sun made for a little tougher targets. Even with the morning sun the squad managed to shoot a second 471, turning in a 942 for the Championship! That is some fine shooting. Luke led the way again with his first 100 straight! Dalton finished with a second straight 96 making his two day total a smoking 192. More information to follow……

It was a hot one but we had a nice breeze. The targets were perfect and I just knew we were going to see some great scores. Out of 500 targets, the squad turned in a smoking hot 471. Luke led the way with a 98 but Jack’s 97 was close behind. The alt squad shot well also. Thomas came in with a 92, his personal best. Let see if they can do it again tomorrow!

OK here we go first 100 targets……today is day one of the 2010 SCTP National Trap Championships. We will be at banks 17 and 18 at around 10-11am. Stop by and say hi if you can.

Squading for the Nationals….

I expect to see some of the Clay Busters today. Here is what I know….Mark, Jack, Brian, Dalton and Luke are on Squad #168 and will shoot on Bank 18a at approximately 11:00am on Friday. Steph and Thomas are on Squad #131 and will shoot on Bank 17c at approximately 10:15am on Friday. I’ll know more about Saturday’s times after the coaches meeting today.

The Clay Busters are in the House….well Complex

OK gang this is your last chance to sign up for Nationals. Everyone who participated in the state shoot is eligible to attend. If you would like to go I need you to contact me ASAP. I’m not sure how many Clay Busters we are going to have, or how the squads will work, but everyone who says they would like to go will get to shoot. A few have shown interest but I need to hear that you are defiantly in. Below is everything that I know at this point.

Luke, Steph, Mark and Jack are defiantly in.

2010 SCTP Nationals/July 23rd – 25th , the trap events are on the 24th and 25th.
It’s being held at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta Ill

it’s about an 1800 mi round trip and it takes about 14 hours to get to the hotel. Renting a big van and going out together as a team is not feasible at this point so it’s going to have to be every family making their own travel arrangements.

We staying are staying at a hotel just outside of Saint Louis. Rooms were $90/night plus tax and as of Thursday they still had room’s available.

The shoot fees are $56 – The team should have enough money to pay these fees.
The PA SCTP has some funds that they will distribute to the teams going to Nationals but I’m not sure how much the Clay Busters will receive. Whatever it is it will be divided evenly between the Clay Busters who go.
