2012 PA State AIM & SCTP Trap Championship Info

What: The Clay Busters will be participating in two separate State Trap Championships this year. Both take place during the Colonial Classic, held on June 9th and 10th. The Colonial Classic is a just a big ATA trap shoot held once a year at Elysburg. The shoot is not only for kids, there will be lots of adults shooting as well. However, both shoots will have separate areas and times dedicated to the kids.

  • The PA AIM State Championship will be held on Saturday, June 9th. The AIM Championship has both team/squad and individual awards. Awards will be presented immediately following the event, I’m guessing that will be sometime around 2pm.
  • The PA SCTP State Championship will be held on Sunday, June 10th. The SCTP Championship is a team/squad event. Awards will be presented immediately following the event, again I’m guessing that will be sometime around 2pm.

Place: Valley Gun and Country Club, Pennsylvania 487 & Gun Club, Elysburg, PA 17824
Time: The Colonial Classic shoots starts at 10:00 am on Saturday and 9:00 am on Sunday. Our start time will vary and I will post our start times on our website on Friday evening. For now make plans to arrive no later than 9:00 am on Saturday and at 8:00 am on Sunday.

Target fees and 100 rounds of ammo will be provided by the team. Please make sure you bring along some additional ammo for practice and shoot-offs.

The practice traps are located on the left as you first drive into the Club. Cost is $4.00 per person for 25 targets. They take cash or check. It’s first come first serve. I believe they open one hour before the shoot starts but get there early as they get crowed fast

You will shoot 25 shots at each trap house, just like practice. You will do this at 4 consecutive trap houses for a total of 100 shots. When you’re done each 25 grab your gear and head over to your next trap house. Once there you’ll have time to get a quick drink and grab your next box of ammo, then its back up to the line. There can be limited coaching between 25’s but please make every attempt to keep things moving.

NO RESTING GUN BARRELLS ON YOUR TOE. IF YOU DO YOUR WHOLE SQUAD WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

The Trap houses are numbered 6a 6b 6c etc. and squad numbers are on the backs of the scorers chair so you can keep track.

There will be a lot of people competing at these shoots, both kids and adults, so we need to try our best not to disturb the other competitors. That includes no yelling or loud talking near or around the trap fields and ABSOLUTELY NO HORSEPLAY WHILE AT THE RANGE! It’s best to move away from the trap field as quickly as possible after you are done shooting.

Make sure you review the Competition Check List and the PSSA Grounds Map.

Once the day begins, please do not stray away from our group until we are done with the awards. If you must leave the group please make sure you inform a coach and provide them with a way for you to be reached. Remember this is your day. Make the most of it. Think only positive thoughts and most of all, be safe, have fun and shoot well.
